Inspiration
We were inspired by the lack of resources for people in our local communities, so we developed a solution to help with that. We also created a solution for college students to have a way to track their finances, especially because money is often tight. We were inspired by the missions of Vanguard, State Farm, Capital One, and Wix, and wanted to create solutions to help further their missions.
What it does
The project is split into two parts. There is a website for understanding financial literacy, and there is a presentation for an application to solve the problem for college students. There are 2 YouTube videos, 1 included for a walkthrough/demo for the website, and one for the solution to the Capital One problem.
How we built it
We built the website using Velo/Wix. The presentation for Capital One is PowerPoint.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a time crunch and were not able to add as much as we would have liked to the website. Planning and discussion was also a challenge, but the end result was very rewarding.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We completed the presentation and were able to make a website in a short period of time. Velo is an amazing professional service that allows websites to be created quickly, and we really needed that over the course of the hackathon.
What we learned
Planning is everything. Making sure everything is scoped out and there is enough time for everything we want to accomplish. Divide up the work and stick to the project so that everyone knows what they need to do and can do it before the end of the hackathon.
What's next for Very Not Scuffed ShellHacking
Improve on the solution for Capital One, and add more to the wix website to make it a lot more functional. We'd like to add options for others to add articles, and for community members to have a way to add content that applies to a specific community.
