The inspiration for Versa AI came from how frustrating and outdated online home search feels today. Platforms like Zillow and Redfin make you click through endless filters and scroll past irrelevant results, while large language models have proven that natural language can make complex tasks simple. I wanted to merge those two ideas: bringing the ease of a single prompt to the real estate world.

What Versa does is strip search down to its simplest form: you type something like “find me a 3-bedroom modern home under $700k in Scottsdale” and instantly get curated homes that fit. It’s fast, conversational, and feels much more natural than traditional filters.

We built it as a lightweight MVP focused on the core experience. The frontend is a simple chat paired with listing cards, and the backend interprets natural language prompts into both structured filters like price and beds, and semantic features like style. The result is a working demo that shows the power of an AI-first approach to home search.

One of the biggest challenges we ran into was properly parsing listing data and details. Real estate information is messy: different formats, inconsistent descriptions, and missing fields. Making sure prompts map cleanly to accurate results was harder than expected. Another major challenge was simply building in general. As a non-technical founder, I had to grow and learn in real time, using the tools that were available to put something real together. Managing that learning curve while shipping a working product was as difficult as the technical hurdles themselves.

We’re proud that we created a functional MVP where a single sentence gets you real results. It feels like a true product, not just a prototype, and shows how AI can transform search into something more personal and efficient.

Through the process, we learned that simplicity is key. Users overwhelmingly prefer prompts to filters, and while LLMs are powerful, structure and guardrails are critical for reliability.

Next, we plan to expand Versa with features like saved searches and alerts, pilots with brokerages, and eventually 3D models for home builders with exportable blueprints, material sourcing lists, and contractor marketplaces. Step by step, Versa can evolve from a smarter search tool into the operating system for real estate.
