Inspiration
Disinformation is everywhere, and most “fact-checking” solutions are slow, siloed, or opaque. I wanted to create a tool that is brutally fast, radically transparent, and leaves no room for doubt. The release of Perplexity Sonar and Sonar Reasoning was the breakthrough, now I could build a platform that delivers instant, research-grade, multi-source fact checks in real time.
What it does
Truth byJamie lets anyone instantly verify any claim with live AI research and trusted citations. Users submit claims, see trending viral topics, and most importantly ask follow-up questions that trigger Perplexity’s Sonar Reasoning for deep, multi-step answers with full source attribution. Everything is live, evidence-based, and built for maximum trust.
How I built it
I built the platform as a modern full-stack web app: React (with Vite and TailwindCSS) for the frontend, Node/Express/TypeScript for the backend, and PostgreSQL via Drizzle ORM for analytics and trending tracking. Every claim and follow-up is routed to the Perplexity Sonar API, with Sonar Reasoning powering deep research responses. The entire app is deployed on Replit Autoscale for zero-friction, 24/7 uptime.
Challenges I ran into
- Making deep AI research feel as instant as a search engine, even for complex claims and follow-ups.
- Integrating Sonar Reasoning so the chain-of-thought, citations, and multi-step logic are clear to users.
- Designing a UI that feels credible and frictionless, with live analytics and trust signals.
- Ensuring reliability and transparency for every claim and every user.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Every follow-up question leverages Perplexity Sonar Reasoning, providing multi-source, chain-of-thought answers, no shortcuts, no filler.
- Live platform analytics prove real-time usage and build user trust.
- The app is clean, fast, mobile-friendly, and truly public, no demo smoke and mirrors.
- Truth by Jamie is launch-ready and available for anyone to use.
What I learned
- Transparency and speed are everything for trust; clear sources and logical steps matter as much as technical accuracy.
- Perplexity Sonar’s deep reasoning API unlocks levels of research and synthesis impossible with single-shot LLMs.
- User experience, design, and evidence-backed logic are as important as code quality.
What's next for Truth byJamie
- Adding user accounts and dashboards for power users and journalists.
- Advanced analytics and data visualizations on viral claims and disinformation trends.
- Public API and embeddable widgets for newsrooms and educators.
- Scaling to serve real-world organizations and help restore trust in online information.
