Inspiration
Events like NFT NYC have NFT gated events but when users arrive at the events, the venues are not strictly enforcing that the attendees own these NFTs especially when some people working security have no idea what they’re dealing with.
What it does
Allows hosts to create an event for a specific NFT collection. Our app will then gather all of the wallet addresses of current holders of the NFT. Then the user can sign in through their wallet, and check into the event. The app will create an off chain agreement between the user and the event and grant the user a verification that they contain the NFT in their wallet.
How we built it
We built the app using Extool a rapid app development interface . Additionally we iterated through many concepts of how to expedite and simplify the user and host interaction while keeping the interaction secure.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled with how to make this app as simple and quick as possible for both the venue and the user. We had to make sure that our platform would ensure the verification would be simple, swift, and secure. To solve this, when the host creates an event it gathers all of the wallet addresses of current holders of an NFT. Then through an off chain agreement. The user can get a verification that they own the NFT for the event.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our user interface; it is visually appealing and simple. We are also proud of how simple we kept this interaction because for it to be used in the real world it must be usable by someone with no crypto experience and quick. Overall, we are really excited that we were able to identify an important issue and took action to come up with a model for a creative solution to it.
What we learned
We came into this hackathon with little to no blockchain nor hackathon experience. During our brief time this weekend, we learned about off chain verification which allows us to provide a service with no gas fees. Additionally we learned about front end development and the various elements that go into that. We also learned how to communicate technical complicated topics in a simple, easy-to-undertsand way, so that everyone was on the same page.
What's next for VeriFi
In the near future, we aim to build a more comprehensive MVP for VeriFi that we will have reviewed by experts in the space to see what we did well and what we need to improve on. As we plan to pitch VeriFi at the HAX $10K Pitch Event on April 14th, we will be doing extensive work over the next two weeks to try and meet that goal, building out a functional, user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing version of the app. Once launched we hope to be used at 100 events in one year.
