Inspiration
Finding the right venue for an event can be surprisingly time-consuming. People often have to browse multiple websites, compare prices, check guest capacity, and figure out which venues fit their requirements. I wanted to simplify this process, which inspired me to build VenueWise - a platform that makes discovering and comparing venues easier.
What it does
VenueWise helps users explore and compare venues based on their location, event type, date, guest count, and budget. Users can narrow down their options according to their requirements instead of spending hours searching across different platforms. The goal is to make venue discovery simpler and help people make more informed decisions while planning their events.
How we built it
We built VenueWise as a web application with a focus on a clean, intuitive, and responsive interface. The application includes venue discovery, search and filtering functionality, event-related form inputs, and light and dark themes. We focused on making the different filters work together while keeping navigation straightforward and the overall experience easy to understand.
Challenges we ran into
One of our main challenges was handling multiple search criteria without making the interface complicated. We also faced issues with styling consistency across light and dark themes, input visibility, and responsive layouts. Fixing these issues required careful debugging and repeated testing to ensure the interface remained usable across different screen sizes and theme settings.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of turning a common event-planning problem into a functional web application with a clear purpose. We brought multiple venue-search criteria into one interface and focused on making the experience simple, organised, and accessible. We're also proud of improving the application's visual consistency and making its interface more user-friendly.
What we learned
Building VenueWise helped us strengthen our frontend development and debugging skills. We gained practical experience in designing user interfaces, implementing filtering logic, handling form inputs, managing themes, and improving responsive layouts. We also learned that small details, such as readable labels, useful validation, and consistent styling, can make a significant difference to the overall user experience.
What's next for VenueWise
We want to make VenueWise more useful by adding verified venue listings, detailed venue comparisons, and reliable real-time availability information. Future improvements could include booking integrations, user reviews, and personalised recommendations. Our long-term goal is to make finding a suitable venue easier, more transparent, and less stressful for everyone planning an event.
