Inspiration

Venue owners often struggle with managing multiple aspects of their business—bookings, staff, vendors, finances, and operational costs—all spread across different tools, spreadsheets, or even paper. This fragmented approach causes inefficiencies, errors, and missed opportunities. We were inspired to create VenueHub, a centralized ecosystem that empowers venue owners to manage everything from bookings to financial tracking—all in one place.

What it does

VenueHub is a complete venue management ecosystem designed to give venue owners full control over their operations. It helps streamline internal processes, track financials, and manage resources with features such as:

Booking Calendar: Real-time scheduling and tracking of events

Financial Dashboard: Detailed insights into money earned, spent, and profitability per event

Expense Tracking: Monitor utilities like electricity, water, and miscellaneous costs

Revenue Analysis: Understand income sources and high-performing events

Vendor Management: Maintain vendor records, payments, and service history

Staff Management: Assign roles, track hours, and manage payroll data

Asset Management: Log equipment and assets with usage, depreciation, and maintenance info

Reports & Insights: Auto-generated reports for decision-making and tax compliance

How we built it

We built VenueHub during a hackathon using Bolt AI, which made the whole process much faster and easier. Instead of writing tons of code ourselves, we used Bolt AI to help generate the main features and layout of the system.

Our job was more about planning and connecting the dots—deciding how things should work, what data we needed, and how users should move through the app.

We also used Supabase for things like storing data and basic login features. The integration was simple but enough to get the app working as a first version (MVP).

In short, we let AI handle most of the building, and we focused on making sure the tool actually solved real problems for venue owners.

Challenges we ran into

Learning how to work with AI tools: Since most of the building was done through Bolt AI, it took us a little time to understand how to give the right prompts and structure our ideas clearly.

Limited time: With the hackathon format, we had to move fast and make decisions quickly, sometimes with limited testing.

Making everything connect smoothly: Even though we used Supabase for the backend, connecting it properly with the frontend took a few tries, especially around user data and bookings.

Balancing features vs. simplicity: There were so many ideas we wanted to include, but we had to focus on what was most important and possible in the short time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a fully working MVP of VenueHub in just a short time using AI, without writing much code ourselves.

We created a tool that actually solves real problems for venue owners—managing bookings, finances, staff, and vendors in one place.

We successfully integrated Supabase and got key features like login, event data, and financial tracking working.

Most importantly, we took an idea from scratch and turned it into a real, usable product during a hackathon!

What we learned

AI can be a powerful partner: Tools like Bolt AI can help bring ideas to life much faster than traditional development—but they still need clear thinking and good planning.

Focus matters: When you're short on time, choosing the most important features and getting them right is better than trying to do everything.

Teamwork and clarity are key: Working together and clearly defining how the system should work made a huge difference in how smoothly the build went.

Even basic integrations can be powerful: A simple setup with Supabase was enough to get a working system running, proving that you don’t always need a complex tech stack to build something meaningful.

What's next for Venuehub

Make it smarter – Add more useful features like reminders, suggestions for saving money, and better tracking tools

Improve how it looks and feels – Clean up the design and make it easier for users to navigate

Add real-time updates – So changes to bookings, staff, or finances show up instantly

Make it mobile-friendly – So users can access everything easily from their phones

Upgrade the backend – Strengthen our connection with Supabase and make the system more secure and scalable
