Inspiration

Since we are all interested in startups, we looked into the current state of space startups, and found that funding is one of the biggest difficulties for startups trying to break into the industry, due to the high cost and high risk of space technologies. Therefore, we wanted to facilitate the connection between VCs and startups, in hopes of stimulating the market again.

What it does

VentureGalaxy connects VCs with startups looking for funding.

How we built it

The website was designed with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We used Github to work on the code together. The database was created with MangoDB and integrated through Github and JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

Nearly everything we did was new to us: MangoDB, collaborating through Github, web animations, web design, etc., so we ran into many challenges navigating the new tools available to us. Specifically, many of the animations weren't working initially, we had trouble linking the database to the website and website pages together, and we struggled to manage stashed changes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the animations within our site and the smooth integration between our database and our site.

What we learned

We gained experience in web design and database integration with MangoDB. This was also one of the first projects we worked on in a group setting, so we learned how to better navigate each other's codes through Github.

What's next for VentureGalaxy

With more investors and startups in our database, we aim to create an optimized matching system based on company values, funds needed, etc., to better connect startups with VCs who have a higher chance of investing in them. Additionally, we want to integrate an in-app/in-site chat feature so that investors and founders can communicate right on VentureGalaxy.
