Inspiration
We live in a world where starting an online business shouldn't require a computer science degree or a fortune. Millions of small vendors, artisans, and entrepreneurs have incredible products but are locked out by platforms that are either too complex or too limiting. We asked ourselves: What if we could democratize ecommerce? When we discovered Medo, we saw the perfect opportunity to rapidly build VendorHub — empowering anyone with a product and a dream to launch a professional online store in minutes, not months.
What it does
VendorHub creates a complete ecommerce ecosystem that empowers vendors of all sizes:
Setup — Create an account and build a storefront with zero coding required Manage — Real-time inventory tracking, order management, and customer data sync instantly Sell — Customers browse, add to cart, and checkout with a smooth, responsive interface Analyze — Comprehensive dashboard showing revenue, sales trends, and customer insights Scale — Grow from single products to full catalogs and multi-vendor marketplaces
How we built it
We leveraged Medo as our core development platform, which accelerated our build process significantly. Combined with React 18, TypeScript, and Vite for the frontend, plus Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui for styling, we created a modern, type-safe application. Supabase powers our real-time database, authentication, and API. The architecture separates concerns cleanly with reusable components, global state management via Context API, and custom hooks for business logic. We built two distinct experiences — Vendor Dashboard and Customer Storefront — each optimized for specific workflows.
Challenges we ran into
Real-time inventory sync across multiple users while maintaining data consistency TypeScript complexity in deeply nested component trees Intuitive UX design for non-technical vendors like bakers and crafters Performance optimization with large product catalogs using pagination and lazy loading
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Production-ready platform built in record time using Medo Real-time updates across all features Professional UI/UX with enterprise-grade security 100% responsive design from mobile to desktop Type-safe architecture that caught hundreds of bugs before production
What we learned
How Medo accelerates development without sacrificing production quality Architecting scalable SaaS applications with React and TypeScript Real-time database patterns for handling concurrent users Building accessible interfaces for all technical levels The importance of user feedback from real small business owners
What's next for VendorHub
Short-term: Payment integration (Stripe, PayPal), automated notifications, advanced search, enhanced analytics Long-term: Multi-vendor marketplace, native mobile apps, AI-powered features, marketing automation, internationalization, and white-label solutions
