Inspiration

The novelty of this idea is in the application of a speed reading method: you only need 6 consecutive days, across which you will spend a total of 6 hours of learning. The speed of conscious and productive reading is 30 books (200-300 pages each) in just 30 days. This speed reading method has been tested across large test groups and confirmed to have reliably positive results for each person. The recommended age is 14 and above.

The app will allow students to learn much quicker, pass exams, create presentations and put any newly acquired knowledge to use. The instruction of the method is easy, will be available on the most commonly used languages of the world, with access to online book libraries, will improve critical thinking and memory in people across the world, including countries with big gaps in social classes where access to quality education is limited. Monetization freemium – premium.

VELOX will create mobile communities across the world that will be able to study in a particular field together at the same exact time – using all accessible books on any language you want. Once these study groups are established, this group of human minds, not computers (Big Data Science), they will be able to create global online mind-maps through their own research and hunt for knowledge. Monteization – research centers. Access to these ratings – monetization through online libraries and global retailers like Amazon.

What it does

By acquiring knowledge and keeping it with the help of the VELOX app, users focused on innovation and problem solving will be filtering a colossal amount information and thus creating ratings of the most important and useful books in the world on any given subject.

How I built it

A mind map is created in conjunction with the books that have been read across specific topics (psychology, marketing, sales, history, journalism, genetics, etc) with the help of tags and filters will help not only to learn, but to export tasks to your calendar to incorporate that knowledge into your life.

The mobile app consists of 3 modules:

– access to online libraries with the ability to filter books by topic. Users can download and read books, make marks and comments, add newfound information to the mind map.

– module that constructs a mind map (multidimensional, colored). Users can share it with other users and collaborate online.

– calendar module with scheduling & notifications that also has chat functions between collaborators.

All these elements already exist on their own to some degree (for example: Google Calendar, mind maps, online book libraries), however the speed reading method will help not only to complete the puzzle, but also make VELOX a comfortable and easy tool for the user – learning will be much easier with near immediate results – after the 6 days of the speed reading practice are complete. The mere fact of all the elements of the app existing on their own will help with the intuitive use of the app.

Challenges I ran into

The app will allow students to learn much quicker, pass exams, create presentations and put any newly acquired knowledge to use. The instruction of the method is easy, will be available on the most commonly used languages of the world, with access to online book libraries, will improve critical thinking and memory in people across the world, including countries with big gaps in social classes where access to quality education is limited. Monetization freemium – premium.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The VELOX method is tested on more than 1000 students. It works.

What I learned

I did mvp myself based on google docs

What's next for Velox

build-up proto in most spread languages and deliver to people locked in their houses with online and offline libraries recommendations

Velox is a creative and critical thinking based reading method - personal tutor in your pocket. Boost your mind and productivity up to 20 times.

On last hackathon, we have developed 3 free products to help with the current lockdown in education. I made an autonomous course in Russian using free resources from Google. Pavel made a course using a chatbot. Mark made a manual up for download - any teacher or parent can download it and witness a miracle - his students will start to read books with great enthusiasm and efficiency. The only thing left that you need is books. Many books - around 30 books a month minimum. The advantage of the electronic solution is that you get your workbook by mail, and with our bot you also get some friendly interaction with a smart stranger, which many are missing currently.

The coolest thing about it - at the end of the day it's just a piece of paper. I call on the UN representatives and world leaders - spread this to places where internet access is limited. But be prepared - this method of critical thinking may have a large impact on children and adults, making them more competent and enterprising, they may stop believing lies and fakes, learning how to check and analyze their sources, take responsibility for their present and start solving problems. But exactly this will help us leave this crisis. We're ready to come out with a global marathon and sit everyone down across the world to read books.

This is a fast and cheap solution for lockdown. The future of Velox is making a platform for creation of multidimensional mind-maps - as you read any material, the notes you take automatically form a mind-map - this is for universities and science centers that will make their own maps and share them globally and cooperate with each other. I hope this will help to avoid the next pandemic.

Stay home, learn Velox. All you need is books.
