Inspiration

Traditional studying often focuses on memorization instead of true understanding. Students spend hours rereading notes and watching lectures, yet still struggle to explain concepts clearly. We were inspired by the Feynman Technique, a learning method centered around simplifying and teaching concepts to deeply understand them. Our goal was to combine AI, visualization, and active learning into one intelligent educational platform that helps students genuinely master topics instead of passively consuming information.


What it does

Velora is an AI-powered educational platform that transforms complex concepts into interactive visual learning experiences.

Users can:

  • Enter any concept or upload study materials
  • Generate AI-powered mind maps, flowcharts, and concept diagrams
  • Receive beginner-friendly explanations using the Feynman Technique
  • Practice active recall through intelligent quizzes
  • Upload PDFs, notes, and lecture slides to automatically generate study content
  • Use AI tutor mode to explain concepts back to the system and identify knowledge gaps

The platform was designed with an Apple-inspired modern UI to create a clean, focused, and futuristic learning experience.


Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was transforming educational content into meaningful visual structures instead of generating random diagrams. We also faced challenges in:

  • Simplifying complex concepts accurately
  • Creating useful AI-generated quizzes
  • Structuring uploaded documents into interactive learning flows
  • Balancing minimal UI design with powerful functionality
  • Designing an experience that feels educational without becoming overwhelming

Another challenge was making the AI behave like a tutor rather than just a chatbot.
