Inspiration-3 of us are new car owners, and we were talking about car maintenance and how tedious it is. We did not know a lot about it, and decided to create a system that can assist us.
What it does-this program assists the user with car maintenance by calculating mileage between previous and current's mileage and offers different suggestions how to maintain your vehicle according to your mileage. It also provides HOW-TO on the basic maintenance needs.
How we built it- we used python for backend dev, and Tkinter to create GUI.
Challenges we ran into-this is our first hackathon and we ran into time management issues. We also lacked the ability to merge APIs with python.
Accomplishments that we're proud of-we created a prototype that we know we are able to complete if given enough time. We have a strong back end development. This gave us the ability to practice our coding skills and collaborate with teammates.
What we learned-we learned a lot along the way, especially how to start a project. We also forged friendships that will last a lifetime!
What's next for Vehicle Maintenance System (VMS)-we wish to develop the prototype further and hopefully develop a web-based service that can be used from your PC or phone.
