About the Project
Inspiration
With the rapid advancements in AI-driven search and knowledge retrieval, we were inspired to harness the power of Perplexity's Sonar API to build an intelligent, user-centric application that not only answers complex questions but also contextualizes information in meaningful ways. We wanted to go beyond traditional Q&A and explore how AI can be embedded seamlessly into workflows to augment human decision-making.
What We're Building
We're creating a [] – a cross-platform application powered by Perplexity's Sonar API that allows users to:
- Ask natural language questions and receive context-rich, sourced answers.
- Summarize and synthesize insights across multiple sources.
- Integrate the tool into [e.g., academic research, business analysis, developer workflows].
Our goal is to make powerful, trustworthy knowledge retrieval accessible and actionable.
How We’re Building It
The app will be built with:
- Frontend: [React.js / Next.js] for a responsive, modern user interface.
- Backend: [Node.js / Python Flask] with integration to the Perplexity Sonar API for question-answering and summarization.
- Database: [MongoDB / Firebase / PostgreSQL] for storing query history, user sessions, and custom prompts.
We also plan to integrate [e.g., Notion, Google Docs, GitHub, etc.] to show real-world use cases where the app can assist in summarizing, explaining, or suggesting improvements to documents and codebases.
Planned Updates During the Hackathon
As this is a new project, development will begin at the start of the Hackathon Submission Period. All features, UI components, and API integrations will be implemented from scratch and incrementally improved throughout the event.
If we choose to build on an existing idea or base, we will document the significant changes and updates made during the hackathon, including new features, redesigned UI/UX, updated API integrations, and performance improvements.
Compliance & Third-Party Use
We will ensure that all third-party SDKs, APIs, and data integrations used (including Perplexity Sonar) are compliant with their respective licensing terms. All external resources will be credited appropriately in the documentation.
Our Goal
Our mission is to deliver a polished, intelligent tool that leverages the Sonar API to make information discovery smarter, faster, and more intuitive. We aim to demonstrate its value through a functional, consistent app that can be deployed and tested reliably on its target platform.
We’re excited to bring this project to life during the Perplexity Hackathon and can’t wait to see what the community builds alongside us!
