Vayu OS

Vayu OS unifies flight performance data, aircraft maintenance logs, and real-time POH (Pilot Operating Handbook) lookups into one intelligent interface. The goal: reduce cockpit workload, simplify data interpretation, and improve flight efficiency and safety.

We were inspired by how much time pilots spend switching between apps like ForeFlight, Garmin Pilot, and maintenance trackers just to access essential flight data. During emergencies or high workload phases, every second matters. Vayu OS was built on the belief that velocity is not just about airspeed but about access to insight. Our mission is to turn insight into velocity by bringing critical flight, maintenance, and performance data together in one streamlined system.

Building aviation tools taught us that this work is about more than writing code. It is about understanding the pilot’s mental workload and designing clear, intuitive interfaces that perform under stress. We learned how good design can directly influence flight safety and how real time synchronization across devices can transform operational efficiency.

Vayu OS was developed using React, JavaScript, and AWS to enable secure, real time data flow. The frontend is built for speed, simplicity, and visibility in low light or high vibration environments. The backend uses AWS services for redundant storage, ensuring reliability even when offline. We also integrated AI assisted parsing for the Pilot Operating Handbook so pilots can access key procedures instantly.

One of our biggest challenges was syncing real time flight data across devices while maintaining sub second latency. We also had to create an interface that is helpful but not distracting in the cockpit and ensure FAA compliant data privacy to maintain the integrity of all safety critical information.

Next, we are focusing on voice command integration, seamless cockpit synchronization across platforms, and partnerships with flight training schools. Our goal is to give pilots a unified aviation operating system that keeps safety and simplicity at the heart of innovation.
