Inspiration
Growing up in India, I’ve seen how something as simple as getting a vaccine can become a logistical challenge for families. I’ve seen elderly people around me struggle with hospital visits, appointments, and keeping track of when they need to return. I’ve also seen children receive vaccines later than they should, while second doses are sometimes forgotten simply because life gets busy.
The problem isn’t always a lack of access to healthcare — sometimes, it’s the difficulty of keeping track of everything that comes with it.
That made us think: what if people didn’t have to carry all of this information in their heads?
VaxConnect was inspired by the idea of making vaccination management simpler, more trustworthy, and less stressful for families. Instead of expecting people to remember every dose, appointment, and follow-up themselves, we wanted to build something that could help keep them informed and on track so they can spend less time worrying about healthcare logistics and more time focusing on the important things in their lives.
What it does
VaxConnect helps people navigate the vaccination process more easily, starting with a simple vaccine booking flow. Users can explore vaccine information for children, adults, and travelers, find the vaccine they need, and go through the process of booking it without having to figure out the logistics on their own. Our goal is to eventually expand this into a trusted vaccination companion that can also help users keep track of doses and follow-ups, reducing the mental load around staying on schedule.
How we built it
We built VaxConnect as a web application focused on simplifying the vaccination journey.
The core experience is a vaccine discovery and booking flow, supported by an AI assistant that helps users navigate the process and get relevant information. We also integrated CALL-E to add a voice-based interaction layer, allowing users to interact with the vaccination assistant through a phone call and making the experience more accessible beyond a traditional web interface.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was making the vaccination process feel simple despite the amount of information and logistics involved. We also had to think about how to make the experience accessible to people who may not be comfortable navigating healthcare websites. Integrating CALL-E added another layer of complexity as we worked to make the voice experience feel natural and useful rather than just another feature. Balancing a functional booking flow, AI assistance, and a simple user experience within the project timeline was our biggest challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud that we built something focused less on being highly complex or completely novel, and more on being genuinely useful to people who need it. VaxConnect takes a problem we’ve seen around us and turns it into a simple, working experience with a complete vaccine discovery and booking flow, along with a voice-based assistant powered by CALL-E. Our biggest accomplishment is creating something that could make healthcare logistics feel a little easier, especially for people who may already find the process confusing or overwhelming.
What we learned
We learned that solving a real-world problem doesn’t always require making the product complicated. Sometimes, the most valuable thing is making an existing process simpler, clearer, and easier to trust. We also learned how important accessibility is when building for healthcare. Features like voice interaction can make technology easier to approach for people who may not be comfortable with traditional apps or websites. Most importantly, we learned to build around the actual needs of users, rather than adding technology just for the sake of it.
What's next for VaxConnect - vaxforall
Our goal is to take VaxConnect from a prototype to a fully functional platform by working with clinics and hospitals. We want to reduce the time people spend calling, following up, and navigating multiple steps. With the user’s choice and consent, important updates, doses, and follow-ups can be delivered directly to them. VaxForAll is about making vaccination easier to trust and manage, giving people their time back and helping them focus on what matters.
