Vavava: Bringing Crypto to Mexico City

We at Vavava are passionate about bringing crypto to Mexico City. We created an app that helps digital nomads and other crypto users pay for their housing services and streaming platforms. We believe that crypto will bring new people, ideas, and technology adoptions to one of the most populous cities in the world.

Vavava, is a Mexican slang that stands for agreement. We wanted to share this expression and welcome new chilangos to Mexico City.

What inspired us?

We are motivated by the influx of digital nomads moving to Mexico City, who are in need of an easy way to pay bills and stream subscriptions using crypto. This inspired us to create Vavava, a payment platform that allows people to pay for services with crypto. Our dapp is deeply rooted in Mexican culture, which is why we chose the slang word "Vavava" as the name.

What we learned

We learned a lot about the Mexican economy and how to create a secure payment platform. We also learned about the challenges that digital nomads face when trying to access and spend their crypto.

How we built the project

We built the project by connecting to Paiiky, the largest service payment provider in LATAM. Through this connection, users can connect their wallet to Vavava, choose which service or platform they want to pay for, and accept the transaction. Once the smart contract is founded, users receive their invoices in their mail.

Challenges we faced

Our biggest challenge was creating a secure platform. We had to ensure that all transactions were safe and that users’ personal information was protected. We also had to ensure that users could easily access and use the platform, which required a lot of testing and user feedback.
