Inspiration

We've all been there — sometimes we forget our passwords, lose track of which account uses which credentials, or waste time searching for login details. With so many online accounts to manage, remembering every password can be difficult.

That's what inspired Vaultly — a simple, lightweight password manager that helps keep all our credentials organized in one place. I wanted to build something practical, easy to use, and accessible without unnecessary complexity.

What it does

Vaultly is a desktop password manager that helps users organize credentials for social media, email, developer tools, and other online services. It features dedicated sections for popular platforms, customizable account sources, and GitHub integration for syncing vault data with a private repository.

How we built it

We focused on creating a lightweight desktop experience with a modern, user-friendly interface. The project uses a modular approach to organize account data, manage settings, and integrate with GitHub for vault synchronization.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was balancing simplicity, performance, and security. Integrating GitHub synchronization while considering the protection of sensitive credentials also required careful planning and testing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to turn a simple idea into a practical project with a clean interface, organized credential management, customizable sources, and GitHub integration. Vaultly represents our effort to make password management more accessible and convenient.

What we learned

Building Vaultly helped us improve our understanding of desktop application development, UI/UX design, API integration, data management, and the importance of security when handling sensitive information.

What's next for Vaultly - Your Password Manager

Our next goal is to improve credential encryption and security, enhance GitHub synchronization, and introduce features such as browser-style autofill, password generation, and a better vault management experience. We want to make Vaultly a reliable, lightweight password manager that makes forgetting passwords a little less stressful.
