Inspiration
We were inspired by the misconception that the Middle Ages were a period of significant intellectual decline. To help disprove this myth, we created a project to highlight some of the great works of literature from this era.
What it does
Medieval Library is essentially a small e-reading collection. Visitors to the website can browse our available titles, pick their favorite, and click to read it online.
How we built it
We built our project using Python, HTML, and CSS. We also used the Django and Bootstrap frameworks to help create and style the app, and we used a SQLite database to store information on each of the books on the website.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest struggle was setting up the virtual environment for our Django app. After a few dead-ends and a lot of research, we were eventually able to fix the issues that each of our team members was having.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We stuck to our plan and created a project that we both found interesting. We are both proud of how much we learned from working on the Medieval Library.
What we learned
We both learned a lot! Neither of us had experience working with Django, Bootstrap, or SQLite prior to this project, so it was great to learn more about how these tools work.
What's next for Medieval Library
We eventually plan to expand our collection and give the project a URL.
