Inspiration

The primary inspiration for Vatos Velocity stems from a perceived gap in driving-focused experiences within Horizon Worlds. Aiming to deliver a novel and engaging experience, this project taps into the universally appealing nature of automotive enthusiasm. The goal was to introduce a distinct and enjoyable gameplay style to the platform.

What it does

Vatos Velocity is a driving game where players pilot a vehicle with the objective of reaching the finish line in the shortest possible time. The gameplay incorporates dynamic traffic, requiring players to skillfully navigate and avoid collisions with other vehicles to maintain their speed and momentum. Success hinges on skillful driving and obstacle avoidance.

How we built it

The development process commenced with the integration of vehicle and building assets into the environment. Subsequently, the street layouts and overall environment design were established. The final stages involved scripting the traffic behavior and implementing the controls for the player's drivable car, bringing the game mechanics to life.

Challenges we ran into

Significant challenges included navigating the inherent instability and bugs present within the Horizon Worlds VR development environment. Adapting the control scheme for mobile platforms also presented a hurdle. Furthermore, debugging and resolving coding errors independently required considerable effort and problem-solving.

Accomplishments that we're proud of
