Vast Ocean- Teaser

Inspiration

We wanted to capture that primal survival feeling - the vulnerability of being newly born into a hostile world. The challenge was condensing a multi-chapter story into under 90 seconds while maintaining the tension between desperate need and dangerous trust.

What it does

This teaser opens with emergence - a baby sea turtle breaking free from sand, instincts screaming danger as predators circle above. The dash to the ocean becomes a metaphor for the larger journey. Quick cuts reveal the world beyond that first survival moment: a sprawling underwater city, faces that could be allies or threats, mentions of pearls and the search for real connection in a world designed to exploit need.

How we built it

We bookended the teaser with the beach escape - opening with the frantic dash and closing with that first contact with ocean water. Between these moments, rapid glimpses of city life create unease about who to trust. The pacing moves from pure survival instinct to strategic caution as the turtle realizes the dangers have only changed, not disappeared.

Challenges we ran into

Establishing both immediate physical danger and social manipulation threat in under 90 seconds. We needed viewers to feel the turtle's vulnerability while understanding the larger survival challenge isn't just reaching the ocean, it's navigating a world where help and harm wear the same face.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We captured the shift from instinctual survival to strategic survival. The teaser moves from "run from danger you can see" to "recognize danger disguised as opportunity," mirroring how the turtle must adapt to increasingly complex threats.

What we learned

Survival stories resonate most when vulnerability feels authentic. Starting with a newborn's first moments creates immediate stakes - viewers instantly understand how easily this could go wrong, making every subsequent choice feel weighted.
