Inspiration

Film production involves a huge amount of coordination. Scripts, actors, crew, locations, props, and schedules all have to come together, but much of this work is still done manually. We wanted to see if AI agents could take on the repetitive coordination work and let production teams focus on making the film.

What it does

VantageTime turns a script into a production-ready plan. AI agents break down the script, research what’s needed, build the shooting schedule, and generate a call sheet. Instead of manually going through dozens of scenes and spreadsheets, the team gets a connected workflow from script → breakdown → schedule → call sheet.

How we built it

We built VantageTime as an agentic workflow where each agent has a specific role. The Breakdown Agent extracts scenes, characters, locations, props, and other production requirements. The Research Agent fills in missing information. The Schedule Agent turns those requirements into a practical shooting schedule, and the Call Sheet Agent prepares the final production document.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part was making the agents work together reliably. A small mistake in the breakdown can affect the schedule and eventually the call sheet. We had to think carefully about how information is passed between agents and how to keep the final output consistent and useful for a real production team.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud that we turned a traditionally manual production-planning workflow into an end-to-end AI workflow. Instead of demonstrating isolated AI features, VantageTime connects multiple agents to solve one real problem from beginning to end.

What we learned

We learned that building useful agentic systems is less about simply giving an LLM more capabilities and more about giving each agent a clear responsibility, structured information, and a well-defined handoff. Good orchestration matters just as much as the model itself.

What's next for VantageTime

Next, we want to make VantageTime more production-ready by supporting existing production documents such as Excel, CSV, PDF, and Word files, allowing teams to bring in crew and actor information without starting from scratch. We also want to improve scheduling constraints, collaboration, and eventually connect VantageTime directly with the tools production teams already use.
