Project Title: Vanny – Your Beauty Shelf, Powered by AIInspiration

In the age of social media, beauty discovery is easier than ever, but proper maintenance is harder than it seems. We noticed a paradox: people are buying more skincare than ever, yet they often feel less confident about their routines. We were inspired by the "glass skin" trend but recognized the frustration behind it—cluttered vanities, forgotten products, and the constant, daily uncertainty of: "Can I layer these?", "Is this expired?", and "What should I actually use tonight?" Vanny was born to solve the gap between impulse-buying and effective, safe skincare usage. What it does

Vanny acts as your personal AI Skincare Coach and Digital Vanity. It transforms how you manage your products from purchase to application: Smart Scan: Snap a photo of any product label to instantly parse ingredients and identify the product globally using AI. Digital Inventory (My Vanity): Catalog your current products to track what you actually own. AI Routine Optimization: Maps your day vs. night routines based on your specific skin type and current inventory. Smart Pairing Alerts: Prevents the usage of conflicting actives that could harm your skin. How we built it

We leveraged modern AI to turn a chaotic vanity into a structured, personalized beauty OS. Our tech stack focuses on: Computer Vision: Implementing ingredient parsing from product label photos. Generative AI: Powering the skincare coach to provide personalized, safe, and effective routine mapping. Database Architecture: Structured mapping of over 10,000+ compounds to ensure accurate compatibility alerts. Challenges we faced

Building a beauty-tech solution in 12 hours required ruthless prioritization. Data Complexity: Mapping thousands of cosmetic ingredients while ensuring safe compatibility advice was our biggest hurdle. Feature Scope: We had to decide which features were "must-haves" for a hackathon MVP versus "nice-to-haves." We chose to deprioritize peripheral features like automated refill subscriptions and influencer sharing to focus on the core value proposition: AI-driven skincare management. What we learned

We learned that in the beauty tech space, trust is just as important as technology. Users aren't just looking for a scanner; they are looking for a routine they can trust. We also refined our business model logic: moving from impulsive social media purchases to high-retention utility.Market Logic

To understand our market size, we defined our opportunity using the following calculation:

$$TAM = (\text{Total beauty-active users}) \times (\text{Annual ARPU})$$

$$SAM = (\text{High-intent skincare users}) \times (\text{Annual ARPU})$$

$$SOM = (\text{Early adopters}) \times (\text{Annual ARPU})$$

Based on our initial modeling, we are targeting a Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM) of 100,000 early adopters in the Korean market to validate our retention model before expanding globally.
