Inspiration

I watched Quin's creator brief and thought this app was a great idea. I was nomadic in Portugal a few years ago and would have loved an app like this to help connect with people!

What it does

Damn, honestly what doesn't this thing do! Vandango has a feed of nomads living on the road talking shop and posting updates. Friendly nomads can comment on one another posts, add reactions, friend one another and chat via DM! Interested in finding love? Vandango has that too - just pop into the dating tab and start swiping on other nomads!

How we built it

I wrote the app in SwiftUI with a Supabase backend. I have been using this stack for many many years. All of my apps use The Composable Architecture from pointfreeco, RevenueCat for IAP/subscriptions (of course) and lots of GraphQL for communication with my database.

Challenges we ran into

Chat is always a hurdle and the social graph schema for matches in a dating app gets a bit hairy! Fun challenges though!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Stoked to have been able to pull this off in such short order. I love the design, love how it feels in my hands. My nomad days are behind me (for now) but I look forward to watching Quin grow this community!

What we learned

We are living in the future - its so fun to build things so quickly with the new tools that we have.
