Inspiration: As a college student living away from family, holidays are often spent alone in the hostel rooms. Taking this into an inspiration I have created Vandana which is a platform bringing together similar people to connect and spent holiday together.

What it does : Vandana is a holiday-themed platform designed to connect individuals who are away from their families during festive seasons. It facilitates connections through swiping, group chats, recipe sharing, and virtual holiday card creation, helping users celebrate together virtually or in person.

How we built it: We used React.js for the frontend and Node.js for the backend, with a MongoDB database to manage user data. The project integrates APIs for location-based matching and video calls, ensuring seamless communication. Styling was implemented using CSS to maintain a festive and engaging UI.

Challenges we ran into : We faced challenges in implementing real-time location-based matching and ensuring a responsive UI for both mobile and desktop users. Integrating multiple features cohesively, like recipe galleries and virtual card creation, also required significant debugging and design adjustments.

Accomplishments that we're proud of : We’re proud of creating a fully functional platform within a limited timeframe, integrating unique features like virtual cards and recipe sharing. Successfully ensuring cross-platform compatibility and a festive user experience is another highlight.

What we learned : This project enhanced our skills in React.js, API integration, and responsive design. We also learned effective team collaboration and time management during a hackathon setup

What's next for Vandana: In the future, Vandana will integrate advanced matching algorithms using AI to better connect users based on shared interests. We plan to include more interactive features like live holiday event streaming and partnerships with NGOs to promote inclusive celebrations.
