Inspiration

Van-lifers have no dedicated app to find community on the road. Dating apps don't understand nomadic life, and builder knowledge is scattered across Facebook groups. We built Vancore to solve this.

What it does

Vancore connects the van-life community through:

Discovery: Swipe to find friends or dates with van-life specific profiles (rig type, travel pace, build stage) Activities: Create and join local meetups like hikes, coworking sessions, or beach days Messaging: Real-time chat with matches Builder Help: Q&A platform for van conversion topics (electrical, solar, plumbing, etc.)

How we built it

React Native + Expo SDK 55 for cross-platform mobile Supabase for database, auth, real-time messaging, and edge functions RevenueCat for subscriptions TypeScript throughout Challenges Building a discovery algorithm that handles location-flexible searching (find people where you're heading, not just where you are) while keeping profiles fresh and relevant.

What's next

Trip route coordination, campsite recommendations, and offline mode for remote areas.
