Inspiration
This project was inspired by my fascination with Vincent van Gogh and the idea of telling his story not just with words, but through the evolution of his paintings. Each canvas captures a different moment of his life, and I wanted to translate that progression into a living visual experience.
What it does
The video takes viewers on a 46-seconds journey through Van Gogh’s life, told entirely through his artworks. It shows how his style, colors, and emotions evolved over time — making art history feel alive, accessible, and emotional in a modern format.
How we built it
While creating this video, I learned how powerful AI tools can be in bringing art history to life. By working with visual storytelling, I gained a deeper appreciation for Van Gogh’s journey — from his struggles to his bursts of creative genius. It also reminded me how much context, mood, and emotion are hidden in each artwork.
Challenges we ran into
I curated and edited images from Freepik, carefully choosing visuals that connected to Van Gogh’s themes and style. I then used Hailuo to animate these images into a flowing one-minute narrative, giving a sense of movement and progression through his artistic phases. The combination of these tools allowed me to merge static artworks into a dynamic story that feels both educational and immersive.

What we learned
The biggest challenge was maintaining the authenticity of Van Gogh’s style while using modern AI tools. Finding the right sequence of images and transitions required a lot of experimentation. Another difficulty was balancing length — condensing such a complex life into just one minute while still keeping it engaging.
What's next for Van Gogh life reimagined in 46 sec
The next step is to build a gallery of AI-made videos dedicated to the world’s most famous painters — from Monet to Kahlo, from Picasso to Da Vinci. Each video will reimagine their life and art in a short, engaging format designed for social media. The goal is to make art history closer, relatable, and inspiring for mass audiences and especially younger generations, using the storytelling power of AI + social platforms. By transforming static masterpieces into dynamic short-form narratives, we can bring the artists’ journeys to life in ways that resonate with today’s viewers.
