Inspiration

Navigating college life can be overwhelming, and many students are unaware of the valuable resources available to them. From mental health support to career guidance and student organizations, countless opportunities exist, yet many students struggle to access them. Valv was created to bridge this gap by providing an AI-powered platform that connects students to campus resources, helps them find their community, and supports their personal and academic growth.

What it does

VALV is an AI-driven platform designed to help students navigate college life seamlessly. Key features include: 1: AI-Powered Resource Navigation: Helps students discover and access essential campus resources like health and wellness centers, career services, and student counseling (CCSD).

2: Community Building: Enables students to find like-minded peers, join study groups, and participate in campus events.

3: Personalised Recommendations: Uses AI (powered by Gemini) to suggest relevant campus events, workshops, and opportunities based on student interests.

4: Campus AI Video Recommendations: Provides personalised video recommendations based on interactions with our chatbot.

5: Opportunities Matching: Helps students find leadership roles, such as becoming a Resident Assistant, or participating in hackathons like HenHacks.

6: Accessibility for All: Ensures all students, including those with disabilities, can easily access important campus information and resources.

How we built it

Valv was developed as a mobile application using: React, React Native, and TypeScript for a smooth and interactive user experience. Google Gemini AI for chatbot-driven interactions and personalized recommendations. Frameworks & Tools: Expo-AV, Expo-Router, and Expo-Map for enhanced functionality and user experience.
