Inspiration
Early-stage startups want the valuation upside of sustainability but have no simple way to prove it. Research shows environmental sustainability significantly increases investor willingness and improves perceived return-risk ratio for startups. We built the tool that bridges that gap.
What it does
ValueVerde helps startups track sustainability actions, generate ESG and SDG scores, and produce investor-ready evidence packs for fundraising or acquisition conversations. It turns sustainability activity into proof investors can underwrite.
How we built it
We used React for the frontend, Supabase as our backend and database layer, and JavaScript throughout. The scoring engine translates sustainability inputs into a combined ESG and SDG signal that is simple enough for founders and credible enough for investors.
Challenges we ran into
Configuring React with Supabase required careful handling of authentication and real-time data syncing. Designing the scoring formula was the hardest problem: rigorous enough to mean something, simple enough for a non-expert founder. We also had to pressure-test our product-market fit assumptions throughout.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a working system that makes sustainability tracking accessible for startups without requiring an internal ESG team. Founders can go from zero to a scored, documented sustainability profile quickly and affordably.
What we learned
The biggest barrier to startup sustainability is not lack of interest but the absence of a simple, standardized system to collect and present evidence. That finding shaped every product decision we made.
What's next for ValueVerde
Scale to new regions where disclosure pressure is growing, expand the scoring model, add peer benchmarking, and build tiered packages from self-serve to consultant-led implementation.
