Inspiration

I have been involved in many launches and one of the key things that keeps coming back is having well-defined value propositions. However, people don’t know where or how to get started on building value propositions. This template is to help people organize their thoughts and findings.

What it does

It helps brainstorm relevant value propositions by following a systematic approach of listing out customer pain points and benefits against the jobs/tasks that they need to do. These generated value propositions will help the person understand if their product is close or not. If the product does not match the value proposition, then either the product needs to be changed or they need to list different pain points and benefits that the product will solve.

No matter what, this will help the team ensure that they are building "the right thing" with the the right "why".

How we built it

Splitting up a typical value proposition canvas into some key areas (jobs to be done, pain points, gains, features). These are a subset of the full value proposition canvas but these are the ones that feel the most relevant (in my experience). The areas are split into individual tables and then the prompt uses the entries in the table to generate the value proposition.
