💡 Inspiration

This idea was sparked by a conversation with my friend who runs an export business. He explained how expensive it is to send even a single product sample from India to buyers overseas — sometimes costing more than \$200 per shipment. This made me think: what if we could eliminate that cost without compromising trust?

🧠 What I Learned

I learned how crucial trust is in international trade. Buyers often hesitate due to uncertainty in product quality, and sellers hesitate to spend heavily on sample shipments. A local validation system could solve both issues. I also deepened my understanding of role-based access control, secure file uploads, and real-time dashboard updates — all vital for a system like this.

🛠️ How I Built It

I designed and built Validra, a platform that connects global buyers with local, certified validators — experts who inspect products in person and provide digital reports through the platform. The tech stack includes:

• React 18, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS for the frontend
• Supabase (PostgreSQL, Auth, Storage, RLS) for backend services
• Real-time updates, trust badges, admin approval flow, and file uploads

The platform supports multiple roles (Buyer, Validator, Admin), secure authentication, and rating systems — all deployed using Netlify and Supabase Cloud.

🚧 Challenges I Faced

• Designing a role-based system with secure access control via Supabase RLS
• Handling multi-language support for future global accessibility
• Creating an intuitive UI that works for both tech-savvy users and field-level validators who might not be fluent in English
• Ensuring real-time updates in validator dashboards and admin panels
• Building trust mechanisms like badge systems and validator ratings

With Validra, I hope to make global trade more accessible, affordable, and trustworthy — starting with small exporters and scaling toward a borderless validation network.
