Inspiration

Domain Roulette immediately stood out to us because it flips the normal startup process. Usually, founders start with an idea and then search for a domain later. In this challenge, the domain comes first, and the real question becomes: can this random domain become a meaningful, trusted, and launch-ready product?

That question inspired us to build Validom by Yousun.

We wanted to create something that was not just placed on top of a domain, but actually shaped by the domain itself. The name Validom comes from “valid” and “domain,” so it naturally led us toward a product that validates whether a domain can become a real startup opportunity.

Our goal was simple: turn Domain Roulette from random guessing into validated startup building.

What it does

Validom by Yousun is an AI-powered domain-first startup validation platform.

A user enters a domain, and Validom analyzes whether that domain is trustworthy, brandable, market-aware, and ready to become a product. It follows a clear workflow:

Domain → Idea → Research → Trust → Proof → Verdict → Launch

Validom generates a complete validation dashboard with:

  • Domain analysis
  • Trust score
  • Market signals
  • Competitor snapshot
  • Proof verification
  • Opportunity score
  • AI strategic insights
  • Final Validom Verdict
  • Devpost-ready Launch Kit

The final verdict tells the user whether the domain is a High-Confidence Opportunity, Promising, Needs More Proof, or Not Ready.

Validom also creates a launch kit with pitch content, project story, demo script, and next steps, so builders can move from a random domain to a clear startup direction.

How we built it

We built Validom as a modern web application using Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, React, and Vercel.

The product is organized around a domain-first validation pipeline. First, the system normalizes and analyzes the domain structure. Then it calculates trust, brand, market, proof, and domain-fit scores using a custom scoring engine. These scores are combined into a final opportunity score.

We also added AI-powered insights to explain the result in a more strategic way. The app includes a dashboard, evidence layer, judge mode, full report flow, and launch kit generator.

The main technical workflow is:

Input domain → analyze signals → calculate scores → generate insights → produce report → create launch kit

We focused on keeping the experience fast, visual, and easy for judges to understand.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was making sure Validom did not feel like a generic domain checker.

Domain Roulette is not only about using a domain name. It is about building something deeply connected to that domain. So we had to design the product in a way where the domain becomes the starting point of the whole strategy.

Another challenge was balancing real validation with hackathon speed. We wanted the app to feel useful and credible, but also simple enough to demo clearly. That is why we combined visible trust indicators, scoring logic, AI insights, and a launch kit into one focused workflow.

We also spent time improving the UI so the product would feel like a serious SaaS dashboard, not just a prototype.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that Validom clearly matches the Domain Roulette challenge.

Instead of building a random app and attaching a domain to it, we built a product where the domain itself drives the idea, the validation process, the report, and the launch strategy.

We are also proud of the full workflow we created:

Domain → Idea → Research → Trust → Proof → Verdict → Launch

The project includes a working live demo, public GitHub repository, validation dashboard, scoring system, evidence layer, judge mode, AI insights, and Devpost launch kit.

Most importantly, Validom communicates one clear idea:

Validom does not just use a domain; it turns the domain into the product strategy.

What we learned

We learned that a domain can be more than a web address. A strong domain can shape the product concept, brand story, user trust, market positioning, and launch strategy.

We also learned that hackathon projects need more than features. They need a clear story. The best product is not always the most complex one, but the one that explains the problem, solution, and challenge fit clearly.

Building Validom helped us think more deeply about validation, trust, branding, and how early-stage ideas can be evaluated before teams spend too much time building in the wrong direction.

What's next for Validom by Yousun

Next, we want to make Validom more powerful with deeper live data and stronger validation signals.

Planned improvements include:

  • WHOIS and domain-age analysis
  • Real-time competitor search
  • Live web trust scanning
  • More advanced market trend analysis
  • Downloadable branded PDF reports
  • Team workspaces
  • Domain purchase recommendations
  • Stronger AI research agents
  • Public shareable validation reports

Long term, Validom can become a SaaS platform for founders, domain buyers, hackathon teams, startup communities, and small businesses.

Our vision is to help anyone turn a domain into a validated, trusted, and launch-ready startup opportunity.
