What it does
Gathers and ranks news articles based on numerous factors, categorising them and displaying the top 5 articles for each sector for investing in; alongside a summarisation of the articles key points. Recursively updating the database of articles daily.
How we built it
Python flask with, HTML/CSS and Javascript, making use of SQL and external API calls.
Challenges we ran into
API rate limits, accessibility to news sites, accessability to large data sets, bugs and errors, stuff not working basically.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Working final project, with the intended main feature set.
What we learned
API use and fullstack development alongside hands on experience with GIT for collaboration
What's next for ValidIt
Scaling to production through means of several polishes, such as more metrics for article evalutation, larger data sets, customisable weightings, browser extension for on the go article scanning and evaluation.
