Inspiration
We all felt festive and decided to make our hack about Valentine's Day. We thought that the best idea for this would be a game, and after a lot of meetings about designs and ideas, we all felt like puzzle/exploration game centered around a wedding would be fun to work on.
What it does
This is a game where the player saves a wedding by exploring rooms, interacting with NPCs, and finding items.
How we built it
We exclusively used the Pygame library for Python to make our game. It was a massive help in all of the functionality, and we were able to even do the intro and conclusion by adding images and text to the screen.
Challenges we ran into
Two of us had used Pygame before, but the other two hadn't. So, it took a while for all of us to get on the same page with the basics of Pygame (how to add layers onto the screen, move things around, etc.).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The custom artwork, the ability to choose different characters, and the amount of NPCs, dialogue, and interactions.
What we learned
How to use Pygame effectively to make a game entirely in Python. If we were to make another project or expand on this, we would have a good groundwork to build on.
What's next for Valentine Wedding
A longer story, more NPCs and interactions, and different endings based on giving the wrong items to the wrong people.
