Inspiration
The idea came from a simple observation: restaurants are still heavily dependent on waiters for taking orders, even though most guests already have a smartphone in their hands.
I wanted to build something more than another QR menu. My goal was to create an AI-powered restaurant assistant that makes ordering feel like a natural conversation while simplifying restaurant operations.
What I built
Vaise is an AI-powered restaurant platform.
Guests scan a QR code at their table, instantly access the restaurant menu, chat with an AI waiter, place their order using natural language, and track its progress in real time.
Every order is automatically linked to the correct table, allowing the kitchen and waiters to immediately see who ordered what without any manual work.
The platform also includes dedicated dashboards for the kitchen, waiters, and restaurant management.
How I built it
I built the project using modern web technologies including Next.js, React, and TypeScript.
Throughout development I used OpenAI models extensively—not only to help write code, but also to design features, review architecture, improve the AI ordering experience, identify bugs, and optimize the overall system.
One of the biggest challenges was making AI understand how real people order food. Customers rarely use exact menu names, so I redesigned the ordering logic to better recognize natural language and connect it with the correct menu items.
What I learned
This project taught me that building AI products is much more than integrating an LLM.
The real challenge is creating a reliable user experience where AI behaves consistently, understands context, and fits naturally into real business workflows.
What's next
This is only the first version.
Future releases will include voice conversations with the AI waiter, intelligent restaurant analytics, demand forecasting, personalized recommendations, and additional AI tools that help restaurants improve efficiency, reduce costs, and deliver a better customer experience.
