Inspiration
We were inspired by the current ongoing pandemic, hoping to create a way to encourage more people to get vaccinated and those who have already been vaccinated to share their story.
What it does
Our project is an online discussion board that allows verified vaccinators to talk about being vaccinated.
How we built it
We looked to Google's Firebase to host our website and Google's Vision API to help us verify that those on our platform are actually vaccinated.
Challenges we ran into
We quickly ran into trouble when we realized that it would be impossible to connect Google's Vision API to our currently static website. Facing the looming deadline and the even bigger looming costs of hosting a server we decided to scrap the Vision API and finish the rest of the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Though we were unable to connect and utilize Google's Vision API we were still able to build a nice website that in the future could be the site of a busy social platform.
What we learned
We learned that there are many tricks to building a website and integrating a complex API to said website, is even trickier. Though we learned a lot that we could use in the future to potentially expand and grow our current website into a great social platform.
What's next for Vaccination Verified
We would like to expand the project to allow for use of Google's Vision API, and to develop a proper platform capable of hosting a quality, thriving discussion board between vaccinated individuals.
