Inspiration

The inspiration behind Vacation Hacks was to create a platform that provides travelers with valuable tips, tricks, and resources to enhance their vacation experiences. We wanted to address common pain points and challenges that people often face while planning or going on vacations and provide innovative solutions to make their trips more enjoyable.

What it does

Vacation Hacks is a user-friendly platform that simplifies the vacation planning process. By taking user input on destination, duration of stay, and budget, Vacation Hacks generates personalized itineraries and provides weather forecasts for the selected destination. The platform utilizes intelligent algorithms and data to recommend activities, attractions, and dining options that align with the user's preferences and budget. With Vacation Hacks, users can efficiently plan their trips and make informed decisions while staying up-to-date with the weather conditions at their chosen destination.

How we built it

We built Vacation Hacks using a combination of Vue.js for the frontend, HTML, and CSS to create a visually appealing and interactive user interface. For the backend, we leveraged the power of Firebase, a serverless platform, to handle data storage, and real-time updates. To provide intelligent recommendations and weather forecasts, we integrated the ChatGPT API into our application. This allowed us to leverage the language model's capabilities to understand user inputs, generate personalized itineraries, and retrieve up-to-date weather information for the selected destinations. The ChatGPT API was utilized through API calls to fetch the necessary information and provide dynamic responses to user queries.

Challenges we ran into

During the development process, we encountered several challenges. One of the major hurdles was integrating multiple third-party APIs seamlessly and ensuring their reliability and accuracy. We also faced difficulties in optimizing the platform's performance, particularly when dealing with a large volume of user-generated content.
