Probem: Size limitations on social gatherings
Restrictions on the size of social and other gatherings are extremely damaging to countless businesses and communities.
The damages caused by the cancellation of a single music festival in the small city of Savonlinna, Finland might reach 100 million euros. That is over 3 000 euros per citizen.
Official restrictions are imposed as a simple number. Gatherings with over 10, 50 or 500 people might be banned. This leaves individuals and organizers with no proactive role.
Solution: Build social clusters + subdivide events
Everyone belongs to a network of people that have recently been in physical contact. It’s impossible to consciously limit or manage the size of these networks without software.
Vaah.to is a mobile app that allows individuals to proactively work towards contained social clusters that are uniquely identified. By using algorithms, we can divide people by their extended social clusters in events, effectively making large events multiple concurrent small ones.
Consumer Application
Individuals use a simple and intuitive application to track and govern their social connections. This activity forms clusters of physically interacting people.
Each cluster is identified by a unique code.
Business Integrations
Businesses depending on social gatherings integrate the system to their reservation systems.
Unique code idenfitying the cluster can be entered when purchasing tickets, booking tables or reserving seats.

Impact: Size matters, to everyone
Vaah.to gives both the individuals and the organizations most affected by the crisis tools to proactively improve their ability to attend and arrange larger social gatherings.
Even when the restrictions are eased significantly, the ban of largest events still hits hard the local service and hospitality businesses.
Continuation: Establishing the Alliance
We are building Vaah.to together with those most affected by the crisis.
We are forming a diverse alliance of organizations affected by the crisis to join this initiative. Current prospective members have 62+ million annual customer & visitor engagements in mobility, events, public services etc. in Finland alone. You too, can join!
After the Crisis: Ready for the next outbreak
According to the head of digital transformation of Finnair, this application could be used to increase safety in special occasions like flights during regular flu seasons as well.
From the point of view of transmitted diseases like COVID-19, only recent physical connections matter. This allows the application to be taken into use within days when the next outbreak occurs.
