Inspiration

Have you ever felt sad? Have you ever worn clothes? Well, you need Outfit Oracle. It is inspired by lonely mornings when nobody bothers to compliment you.

What it does

Outfit Oracle uses a webcam to look at what you're wearing, and depending on what you're wearing, it will give you a heartwarming compliment to brighten your day.

How we built it

Outfit Oracle uses computer vision to look at the user's outfit. Using a model that we trained ourselves, it detects the various types of clothing the user is wearing. Then, we use GPT 3.5 Turbo to generate a compliment using the user’s outfit. Finally, we convert our compliment into audio using Google Cloud’s Text To Speech API and play it to the user.

Challenges we ran into

The most difficult part of the project by far was creating the machine learning model that can detect what people are wearing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As we progressed through the project, we met many roadblocks, specifically regarding the computer vision model we were training. We are proud of knocking down many of those roadblocks while learning much about machine learning.

What we learned

An idea that seems simple at first glance actually requires 36 hours of toil and also part of your soul. Many parts that seem simple will actually take a lot of time if none of the team members have much experience.
