Inspiration

A fellow team member attended a free cookies event designated for staff only, yet there was no distinguishing filter between faculty and student events that were announced. This disorganization and frequent missed club events that aren't displayed have left the current UW Bothell Events page less user-friendly for students that do not follow all club social media to receive event announcements.

What it does

Our website is dedicated to bringing exciting events to the students, from outdoor activities to workshops, a list of clubs/club involvements, and everything in between.

How we built it

We built it using HTML, CSS, C#, and ASP.net.

Challenges we ran into

We are all new to web development and did not have a clue about where or how to start. We had a difficult time dividing the program into small tasks due to our level of expertise.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Within the span of 3 days, we were able to learn the basics of web development technical skills. In addition, we were able to effectively communicate and collaborate, promoting a positive and productive working environment. Even though we had limited knowledge, each of us gave it our best efforts and were motivated to create a final product.

What we learned

We learned the basics of web development through several languages in addition to collaboration with other team members through GitHub.

What's next for UWB Student Events

The product we currently have is an extremely rough draft of the UWB Student Event Calendar idea. However, in the future we plan to continue to work as a team and implement better UI design, integrate functioning APIs and databases as well as add more club involvement all under one website. As a team, we are motivated to further expand and cultivate our knowledge of the fundamentals of web development while maintaining a collaborative and positive environment. In addition, we will continue to develop our website in the hopes of creating a fully functional site that UWB can use.
