Inspiration

These days, it seems that UW students all have their own friend group, and it is difficult to make new friends/connections. This is especially true as we emerge from the pandemic. UW Networking is meant to create a solution by combining student networking with support for local businesses.

What it does

UW students first set up their profile, including their year, major, and interests. They can then begin matching with other Huskies. Once a mutual match occurs, UW Networking on the Ave recommends some places on the Ave to hang out, and the students can arrange a time to meet and eat together.

After they finish, students can rate their experience and provide feedback to the app. The app will then optimize both food recommendations and other students to meet up with.

How we built it

We first wrote up a specification including all the pages and details we hoped to implement. We then moved the contents onto Figma, maintaining consistent style between pages and focusing on optimizing a user-friendly experience.

Challenges we ran into

We struggled to compile changes on the GitHub repository.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Professionalism and style of the web app.

What we learned

Figma tools.

What's next for UW Networking on the Ave

Adding functionality to the pages, adding online order payment system using CyberSource API, and reporting order times with the API to improve matchmaking.
