Inspiration

epal.gg, a website for gamers which allows people to find a friend, for a price

What it does

Utile allows its users to view tutors who advertise themselves there. Every tutor has a listed subject that they are proficient in in addition to their contact info (email). Users can choose to contact the tutors directly for one-on-one tutoring. They may also apply to become a tutor, filling out a form which sends an email to the owner of the site. The site also has signup/login functionality and the ability to talk with an integrated AI chatbot. A discord link is provided at the top right for those who want to interact with the community or developers.

How we built it

This project utilizes React to provide a seamless user experience. The styled-components package is used for most elements. Tutor and user information are stored in MongoDB Atlas.

Challenges we ran into

Learning to use the MongoDB API was challenging, as we haven't had much experience with either Mongo or React. Integrating the two proved to be especially hard.
