Inspiration: We made a classroom locator for our school (a demo version) awhile ago. We had the vision of using similar features (and adding a GPS system) to navigate UTD!
What it does
The website tells you the distance from a academic building that you would like to go from your live location. It also has an Arduino that will change colors depending on how close it is.
How we built it
We used Replit to code the entire front and back end of the website.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge we ran into is coding the Arduino to work with the Replit website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of coding the distance between two points using the Haversine formula.
What we learned
We learned how to implement Arduino to software projects. We also learned how to use the front end of Replit.
What's next for UTD Navigator
We hope that in the future, we can have a maps layout (like google maps) in the our website itself. We also hope to include more buildings such as the dormitories.
