Inspiration
During the Covid-19 pandemic, shopping has definitely become more difficult. Often, it is a hassle to find an item at different stores if it is out of stock in another. There is no method to effectively know if a single item is truly in stock at multiple stores within your area.
What it Does
UShelf allows the user to keep a grocery list of items they want to shop for, find the item at any store within a certain radius, and order it without having to worry about going to multiple stores trying to find the item in stock. Users can use our item search to know whether a certain item is in stock at any of the stores we provide data from.
How We Built It
We used our basic knowledge of HTML to make a simple website. We conceived some ideas weeks before the event and started to work on it after the opening ceremony. We decided that we wanted to stick to front-end web dev for now due to our limited knowledge on mobile app design. We realized that this idea can be given a simple base form using HTML.
What We Learnt
We have learned a multitude of things from this experience. We have learned how to coordinate with a team member to meet a deadline, work efficiently, and how much we need to improve. We are proud that we were able to participate in our first Hackathon and complete our first project. We have a long way to go but this is a good start.
The Future
In the future, we hope to be able to gain the skills in multiple web&app dev languages to develop this website into a full fledged mobile app that users can use on a daily basis to do their shopping without having the physical hassle. We hope to make the app much more dynamic and user-friendly.
