Inspiration
In light of recent world events, we felt this platform was important. Many women today feel scared and uncertain about their future- especially in light of our political climate. We've realized that there is a need for a safe space for women to bond, find resources, and learn together- outside the scope of politics and chaos.
What it does
Our platform consists of four different screen: A homepage detailing our mission statement, a finding products screen that implements a Google Map/Places API to help people locate cost effective and close reproductive resources (contraceptives, Planned Parenthoods, etc.), a Forum that allows women to confer, share their thoughts, and relay first-hand information and advice (all stored in Firebase Realtime Database), and finally a Resources page for those who want to stay up-to-date on reproductive news.
How we built it
Our website used a variety of different technologies: Figma, Google Location/Map/Places API, Firebase Realtime Database, Visual Studio Code, Github, and more. We worked on a Github Repository to create each screen of our website.
Challenges we ran into
Initially, with API technology, Firebase Database, and Figma, we ran into a few challenges due to the so little time we had, but we kept our heads down and kept working- eventually allowing us to successfully complete the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of successfully incorporating API usage into our project, as it was difficult at first. Firebase incorporation was also difficult.
What we learned
We were able to hone our skills with HTML/Javascript!
What's next for Untitled
We hope that we could implement more checks within the code to help find even more reproductive resources. We also hope that if we were to get this site off the ground, we would implement some better API software, as the official Google API does cost money.
