🌱 Introduction

USFind is a lightweight, nature-inspired lost & found system designed to help students quickly reconnect with misplaced items. Built using Streamlit, Python, AI-based image extraction, and SQLite, the project focuses on simplicity, calm visuals, and minimal interaction.

Instead of overwhelming users with complicated forms and steps, USFind aims to create a welcoming, stress-free experience through a soft green color palette and minimalistic UI choices.

🌿 Inspiration

The project began from a simple observation on campus: students lose items every single day, yet there is no unified place where these items can be reported or searched.

We noticed:

Important items (phones, wallets, keys) were often found but never claimed.

Students posted in random group chats hoping someone would see their message.

Campus staff had physical logs, but students had no access to them.

People who found items often didn’t know what to do next.

From this, we asked a key question:

“What if we could build a clean, calm, intelligent tool that helps people help each other?”

This became the inspiration behind USFind — a minimal, friendly, AI-assisted platform.
