Inspiration
Knowing many people who have had struggles in the process of assimilating to a new country such as the United States, I thought it was an interesting idea to explore because I know that as a result of difficulties assimilating, many immigrants that come to the US face discrimination due to their lack of knowledge or awareness of what America is like.
What it does
This project helps promote inclusion where immigrants can feel at home in the United States rather than being alienated as immigrants can quickly learn important information about the country's culture in an accessible manner and differences between the U.S. and the country they are emigrating from.
How we built it
We built the project mostly with HTML and Javascript with a home page along with several subpages attached on a sidebar to access.
Challenges we ran into
Figuring out how to provide a specific response based on the specific country an immigrant is emigrating from with a selection of about 25 countries to choose from.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making the pages clear, not look repetitive, and not look very sloppy.
What we learned
A little more planning is needed before going headfirst into creating the project as we had rethink a lot of choices in the middle of creating our project.
What's next for USA Immigrant Assistance
Likely adding more features and making the website more interactive with the user.
