Inspiration
Us was inspired by a simple but powerful question: “Do you remember?” The film pays homage to the beauty of our forgotten stories — the love shared by Afro couples across eras and across the world, rediscovered and honored through animation.
What it does
The video reconnects us with our collective memory. It reminds viewers of the tenderness, unity, and resilience that have always existed within Afro love, even when history forgot to highlight it.
How we built it
We crafted the project using AI animation, stylized characters, and scene compositions inspired by different periods and cultures. Each sequence was designed like a memory resurfacing — soft, warm, and nostalgic.
Challenges we ran into
Capturing the emotional truth of forgotten histories, keeping visual coherence across multiple timelines, and balancing stylization with authenticity were our key challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We brought to life a global timeline of Afro love that feels intimate, beautiful, and universal. We revived memories that deserve to be celebrated and made them accessible through animation.
What we learned
We learned how powerful it is to use art to revive collective memory, how to animate emotion across eras, and how to portray Afro love with depth, nuance, and cultural sensitivity.
What's next for Us
Expanding the concept into a series of animated memories, exploring more forgotten stories, and continuing to ask: “Do you remember who we were — and who we still are?”
