Inspiration

My group decided to do a project on Covid-19 Stats because it is a relevant topic and also because statistics seemed like a good way to use the python code we learned in the workshop.

What it does

Basically, two questions will be displayed: "What is your age?" and "What is your sex?". After you answer these questions, a message will show up. The message is based on your inputs and corresponds to the information that we have added in the python code.

How we built it

We built the stats generator using python codes. We built the website using HTML and CSS.

Challenges we ran into

Since this was our first hackathon, we had quite a few struggles while completing our project. Python was unfamiliar to us and we had to ask the mentors for help. Pytorch was also unfamiliar and turned out to be very confusing. We couldn't figure out how to import data from kraggle and spent a long time trying to make it work. Lucky, HTML was semi-familiar and we were able to use it to make a large portion of our project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The main accomplishment that we're proud of is just trying out best to complete our final project. This was our first hackathon and after staying up late and waking up early, we're proud to have not given up half way.

What we learned

We learned what python codes do and how to use it. Although our knowledge of it is far from mastery level, we now know more than we did before.

What's next for US Covid-19 Stats Based on Demographics

Ideally, we'll be able to complete the project after the hackathon and share it with friends and family. I believe that our idea was good and will serve it's purpose of informing and encouraging people to stay protected against the covid-19 virus.
