Inspiration
Children grow up surrounded by stories, but many only experience stories from cultures they're already familiar with. At the same time, parents often struggle to find engaging content that helps children discover the diversity of the world.
We asked ourselves a simple question:
What if every bedtime story could become a child's first journey around the world?
That idea became UriNuri.
We named it UriNuri by combining the Korean words "Uri" (our) and "Nuri" (world), reflecting our belief that every child has a world of their own.
Instead of building just another AI story generator, we wanted to create a storytelling experience that sparks curiosity, fuels imagination, and naturally helps children discover different cultures through stories they genuinely enjoy.
What it does
UriNuri is an AI-powered storytelling platform that helps children explore the world through stories.
Children choose a destination, the characters they want to travel with, the type of adventure, and the story length. AI then creates a personalized story inspired by those choices.
Alongside AI-generated stories, we plan to offer a curated library of traditional tales from different countries. By enjoying both personalized adventures and timeless stories, children can naturally discover different cultures through reading rather than being taught through lessons.
Why AI?

Traditional books tell the same story every time, but AI makes it possible for every child to create a story that's uniquely their own.

How we built it
UriNuri was designed with a child-first approach.
We use OpenAI's language models to transform each child's choices into a personalized story, creating adventures that are different every time.
To make each story feel like a real storybook, AI-generated illustrations accompany every adventure.
The entire experience is designed to feel like preparing for an adventure rather than filling out a form.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was balancing creativity with cultural authenticity.
Rather than forcing cultural facts into every story, we wanted cultural inspiration to feel natural. Stories should first be enjoyable, with cultural discovery happening organically through reading.
Another challenge was simplifying story creation. We reduced the experience to just a few intuitive choices so children could focus on imagination instead of complicated settings.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have created an experience where AI-generated adventures and timeless traditional stories exist side by side.
Rather than building another AI story generator, we focused on creating an experience where stories come first and cultural discovery happens naturally.
Most importantly, we're proud to have built the first version of a product we believe can grow into a meaningful storytelling experience for families.
What we learned
Building UriNuri reminded us that AI is most valuable when it enhances human experiences rather than replacing them.
We learned that meaningful experiences come not from AI alone, but from how AI is thoughtfully integrated into the product.
We also learned that designing the right experience is just as important as choosing the right AI model.
What's next for UriNuri
Our vision is to build a global storytelling ecosystem where every child can discover, create, and share stories inspired by cultures from around the world—where children don't just read stories, they become part of them.
We're planning to expand our library of traditional stories, support more languages, improve story personalization, and develop original characters that children can continue to grow with across future stories.
Our goal is simple:
