Urine Vital

Inspiration

My grandfather had a urinary disorder and, due to his age, couldn't always go to the doctor for frequent check-ups. The delays and the inconvenience of waiting for prescriptions often frustrated him. This inspired me to create a solution that would ease this process for people of all ages, making health monitoring more accessible and less burdensome.

What it does

Urine Vital addresses the need for accessible and accurate home health monitoring. It reduces the dependency on frequent clinic visits for basic urinalysis and enables early detection of potential health issues. By analyzing urine test strips using computer vision and generative AI, the platform provides instant and accurate health insights, delivering detailed interpretations of the results to help users monitor their health from home.

How we built it

We used OpenCV for processing images and extracting features from the urine strips. Gemini AI was integrated to provide a chatbot feature, React was used for a user-friendly interface, and Flask was employed for backend processing to handle and process the data according to the requirements.

Challenges we ran into

We faced several challenges, including time constraints, obtaining suitable APIs, and trying multiple methods of computer vision to achieve the best and most accurate results.

We are proud of leveraging cutting-edge technology in computer vision and generative AI to develop a solution that can genuinely help people monitor their health more effectively from home.

What we learned

We learned the importance of team collaboration, the integration of generative AI and different APIs, and how to create a pleasant and intuitive user interface.

• Facilitating remote diagnosis by doctors and integrating Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Utilizing Augmented Reality (AR) to guide users on how to optimally capture images.
