Problem:

Urbanization and Fragmentation of Services: As urban populations grow, residents face difficulty accessing essential services like food, shelter, medical care, and part-time jobs. Service options are often scattered across various platforms or offline, leading to inefficiencies.

Time-Consuming Search for Reliable Services: Users spend significant time searching for trustworthy service providers for basic needs, such as tiffin/food services, PG accommodations, or medical assistance. Without a centralized platform, it’s harder to compare services or make informed decisions quickly.

Lack of a Unified, Localized Platform: There is no one-stop solution where users can access all these services in a single place, causing unnecessary delays in finding suitable options.

*OUR SOLUTION : *

A centralized web platform where users can search for various urban services in one place.

Categories include:

Tiffin/Food, PG/Shelter, Medical Assistance, Groceries, Part-Time Jobs, and Tourist Attractions.

Core Features:

Simple, intuitive user interface. Location-based service suggestions. Design Consideration: Easy navigation for first-time users. Cross-platform access (mobile-friendly).

How we built it

Frontend: Used React.js to build a dynamic and responsive user interface that allows users to easily browse .
Backend: The server-side was developed using Node.js and Express.js, handling all API requests and user authentication.
Database: MongoDB was employed to store all user data, assist histories, and other relevant information.
APIs: Incorporated the Google Maps API to assist with location-based services like finding addresses .
Deployment: The project is hosted on a cloud platform, ensuring scalability and reliability for users across different regions.

What we learned

User-Centered Design: Building a platform that serves different groups taught me the importance of user empathy and focusing on real needs while keeping the platform intuitive.
Tech-Driven Solutions: The project helped me deepen my understanding of how technologies like React.js, Node.js, MongoDB can be used to solve real-world challenges.
Community Empowerment: This project showed me the potential for technology to empower individuals and promote sustainability by creating a platform that connects people in a meaningful way.

What's next for Urban Buddy
